From October 3 to November 1, the Bastrop County Museum & Visitor Center invites the community to celebrate Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)—a time-honored Mexican tradition that joyfully honors and remembers loved ones who have passed.
Visitors can view beautiful altars (ofrendas) created by local families, each decorated with photos, candles, marigolds, favorite foods, and other meaningful items. The Museum will also host a special community altar, and all are welcome to contribute by adding a photo or memento in remembrance of someone special.
Día de los Muertos blends Indigenous and Catholic traditions to create a celebration of life, memory, and shared cultural heritage. Join us for this heartfelt observance as we come together to reflect on those who came before us.
